inquiring minds- why does your husband get up at 3am?
me-he does a paper route.
im-a paper route? does he ride his bike?
me- no... hes 30 something and he has like 500 papers.
im-does he go to work after that? or is that all he does?
me(thinking..annoying)-yes, he actaully has a engineering degree and goes to work after that until 5pm. he does have a important job, not mcdonalds, if thats what you were wondering.
im-sooo, why does he do a paper route?
me-he's been doing it for 9 years. we like to spend $ b/c our parents deprived us of it in our youth.(yes mom, i'm reading the suze orman book)
im- really- do you make very much $ doing that?
me( i know its rude to talk about $, but its a fairly easy job and lots of people are struggling right now $ wise. AND its at a time that doesn't cut into family time or anything of that sort...just sleep. but eric says sleeps overrated anyways.)
he makes about $1,200 a month. no raise he ever gets is that much, so if he quit it would be like we never got the raise. things seem to keep getting more expensive, dang economy.
im-oh ok.
me- and anytime i even think about complaining that i'm tired...i stop. i'm never as tired as he is.

Wow, I'm impressed Sarah. I could never do something like that. I love my sleep waaaaay too much. What a hard working hubby you have.
Maybe it's a guy thing. Jesse wakes up at 430 but still goes to bed as late as 11pm. I complain if my kids wake up before 7 :)
kristen I totally agree. but guys are working and staying busy all day. it's hard to stay awake doing mom/kids stuff. like reading to them- i almost always fall asleep and the little stinkers never do. i gotta have a good 7 or 8 hours.
why do you always get people asking you such rude questions? such a good hubs you have there!
seriously, where do all these people come from. My mom did a paper route for years as well. she actually liked it, she became good friends with the people around her table and I think she liked her quiet peaceful time without kids!! I think it is worth the money if you are willing to wake up and do it!! =)
Been there, done that, for 5 years...but I was the one doing most of the route. This was my way to contribute. We did a single copy route to stores/hotels/ etc. and got out when gas prices just started to climb. Now I can't imagine how I existed on so little sleep, or never fell asleep at the wheel. Paper boys...and girls rock!!
