summer solstice or something like that. we decided to really make it long. it was grand canyon state games friday and saturday. it started at 5pm and went till 11pm.
brynly got 1 first place medal, 2 second place medals. isn't that awesome? in the whole state she did that well. i'm so incredibly proud of her! isn't she the most amazing child ever?? aren't you so jealous, your child doesn't do that well in sports???
ya, i'm totally joking. there were only like 8 kids in her age group. she got the first place medal in duet b/c they were the only ones. the second place....2 teams. the other second place....she did actually beat a couple kids.
she thinks she pretty hot- she kept showing the older girls her medals. then i the car she said " i think they are jealous they didn't get as many medals as me" i decided to to keep her self esteem INCREDIBLY high. and not spoil it for her. i know, i know, what a good mom i am.
the makeup- i decided to let the 13 year old brynly idolizes do it. don't you love the eyeliner.
i know a lot of people will disagree with me on this- but i love club sports.
just about everyone i talk to hates them because.....
-its expensive. -a huge time commitment. -kids travel to much. - and they think they'll get burnt out at a young age.
why i LOVE club sports.... the kids learn a lot from the older kids, who are usually a good example.
-if the parents are involved its a great bonding experience.
-if you don't expect them to make it to the olympics, who cares if they get burnt out... they can try a new sport when they are 13 and most likely they'll be in pretty dang good shape.
-it teaches them good work ethic and time management skills.
- helps their self esteem
-the best one (mostly for teenagers) keeps them out of trouble! kids have sex and try drugs and get addicted to things b/c they are BORED! (theres nothing wrong with my child being busy if they enjoy it!)
i keep bugging eric to get trake into club soccer, probably this spring.
erics excited for the day when brynly, grace and elsie are gone all weekend with me doing synchro rather than the other way around.
ah well, teaching him about motherhood
the always controversial,
sarah

i agree with you with club sports. you need to keep your kids busy.
you are super woman you know this!!!!
Thanks a lot Sarah! Now I'm feeling really bad about myself knowing that you have the best child in all of Arizona :)
That's awesome for her! You are such a cool mom!
I am sure club sports are lots of fun and great for some kids. But I don't think you should put your kid in club sports just to keep your kid busy. Our church leaders have been very adament about having our kids do less outside the home and teaching them within the home. They have cautioned us about overscheduling our kids just to keep them busy. Keeping your kid entertained and busy isn't what this life is about - just something to think about!
OOOO my first blog stalker w/ negative opinion! of course i really don't care. obviously you didn't read that I'M THERE COACHING. so i'm not trying to get rid of my kids i'm actally probably spending more time with them. but i'm all about controversy. and i know that people on't agree, i even stated it so it doesn't matter if you tell me who you are. it's ok to have different opions, its not like i'm not going to like you b/c of it. i actually can't think of hardly anyone who does what i do in the church and if someone doesn't like me b/c of it then its their own issues they need to work out. love always=)
I totally agree with the club sports, and I don't even have kids that age yet. Awesome job Brynly. And there's nothing wrong with having your kids have high self-esteem.
I think it's GREAT that you get your kids involved in ANYTHING for that matter! There are too many kids just sitting on the couch these days, all day, every day.
I was always in dance and gymnastics and baton as a kid and I am thankful my mom took the time and interest to let me do all of it! And yes, it DID keep me out of trouble!
I plan to do the same with my kids, whatever their interests might be - dance or rodeos or ??? It doens't matter. As long as they are having fun.
Oh, and I forgot - CONGRATS to B!!!
That's great that she is so excited about her medals!
i should take my own advice and not get offended! i hastily wrote that last comment. please excuse the spelling errors. thanks for the support. and realize things change as your kids get older.
Why are people so preachy? It comes across as so arrogant and looking down at others...what do the "church leaders" say about that!
