camping, i hate it.
when we were kids we camped ALL the time. not so bad for a kid but as a teenager??? 2 weeks we'd stay at the grand canyon, every summer. Yes is a magnificient wonder but entertaining for 30 min or so.
2 weeks.
i saw every ranger program there was, hiked down and up, and "enjoyed the fresh air" (my moms words) way to long .
after 9 years i made myself go back to the grand canyon last summer with the kids. guilt about them seeing a natural wonder and all. I made it 1 day then went home- got bored....elsie was only 6 months and i don't trust other people enough to just let my kids go off exploring alone. although when i was 11 my sister and i hiked down the canyon and my parents had no idea until we got back at 6 that night. different times- i suppose. or maybe parents who think your annoying enough that no one will kidnap you?
the kids really wanted to go camping.
i'm pretty sure i'd enjoy camping even less now because the mom has to do all that cleaning and cooking and not much smelling the fresh air. so i pumped them up about having a "sleepover/camping" trip in the back yard. they put all the couch cushions out on the tramp. we played a game but couldn't finish because of a bug attack. then they were bored. so i brought the tv out and we watched a movie. trake made it about a hour before he came inside. me- 3 hours. brynly and grace ALL NIGHT!
my kind of camping trip.
my mom gets smoking deals on timeshares- $350 a week for some really nice places. after that i couldn't go back to camping. I don't enjoy hotels all that much with kids. the rooms are to small, you have to eat out every meal, crying kids bug other people. so if that was the only option i'd do the camping, it is, after all, very affordable

we were just talking about camping today actually. I loved it as a kid - I don't know what we would do though, we have zero camping equipment. 2 wks at the grand canyon? Yeah, thats a bit too long!
See you tomorrow at 330 - hopefully with a smiling little girl. I told Kaitlyn that she can't go swimming at the beach this summer unless she does swim lessons. She still doesn't get it.
