i'm a fraud
i brought elsie swimming once in april and took a picture then posted it on my blog like she could swim. (i didn't actually say she could swim- it just looked like she could). well she hated it. and then cried whenever she got near the pool. honestly i really didn't care. when people asked if she was swimming i said- "shes working on it." after teaching lessons 6 hours a day- i didn't want to stay in torturing her/myself. a swimming teacher whose kid wasn't swimming. what a fraud i am.

she also doesn't like babysitters. so she spends at least a hour of my lessons sitting in a chair just watching, so she can avoid them.

in california there was a heated pool and elsie got in- the kid just hated cold water!
then she starts mooing(i tell the kids to moo- instead of blowing bubbles) and putting her face in. she walked around the pool and just jumped in! sinks to the bottom of course but didn't freak out when she came up.

today was her second time in our pool and she did all the stuff i teach the little kids in lessons.
amazing- learning by osmosis.
(it means- by being close to something you absorb its powers, i think. when i was in jr high, i remember a comic of garfeild hugging a algebra book and it said i'm learning by osmosis. eric thinks i sound smart when i say it but i really just learned it from the comic.)

my point- if you have your kids in swim lessons and they don't do anything the teacher says- they are probably still learning something.
ALSO- if you did lessons with me in april or may- your kids were probably just cold. you should come try it again, i'm really a good teacher.

ok cheesy blog moment- just so i don't forget...things elsie is doing. 18 months
-takes off her diaper constantly. says potty and then sits there forever doing nothing. i so have lost patience for this little game but i am trying to be a good mom.
-talks more than any of the other kids did. which is good b/c i never got around to teaching her sign language.
-just started nursery. cries when i'm in there but is a little angel when i leave. its the same deal w/ babysitters once i'm gone shes ok but much harder when i'm around. it really eases my guilt about leaving her- she's nicer to everyone else.
-loves giving bear hugs- growls really loud.
-barks at dogs.
- is OBSESSED with blankets but calls them pillows. luckily its any blanket- not one "special" one b/c i much to unorganized to keep track of one blanket.
-she especially likes silky underwear, a bit embarrassing when i see the babysitter gave it to her b/c she was freaking out for it. and no it wasn't put away b/c i'm a bit of a slacker when it comes to getting the laundry in the drawers( at least its clean)

what grace is teaching elsie- play in toilet water, color on things with markers, pour water out of the bath tub on the floor, spill things and then walk around on it (she's really a stinker since the broken leg- cute but a handful).
what brynly is teaching grace...."whats up chicken butt" and a few other choice sayings(i can't post b/c they are about me and much to embarrassing). shes also tells grace to go hug Mark, whose 9, at church. she does and mark get SO emabarrassed and grace tells him shes going to "marry him", all by brynlys prompting. (she sits there laughing at the whole scene).
lovely children.

Kids also purposely make their parents think they don't know the things they've tried to teach them. Like my friends little boy would never tell her what colors things were, or numbers, or letters. Then she went and spoke with his preschool teacher & he knew every letter of the alphabet, number & of course colors. Little stinkers :0) I'm interested to try this watermelon pie. Who doesn't like your cooking? I really get mad when I cook a big meal- no one eats it and I'm left w/ a big sink of dishes- food to throw away and people start rummaging through the food for something else to eat. I'm leaving to the beach in 2 weeks- but I'll catch stroller when I get home- I went on Monday and there was no class! Tyler & Jacob were so disappointed.

kristen- that was sarcastic right? i know they look cute. and i guess if they are little stinkers then i can keep telling myself, they are cute- then it should help me be more patient right? b/c after cleaning up after grace 50 times a day- the patience starts to wane a bit.

I hardly think you're a fraud, maybe she's just stubborn and wanted to do it in her own time!

and about the billion dollar question...true, I only listed the responsible things i would do...I posted shortly after looking at our bills. Funny how that can be so depressing :)

haha! poor sarah! first you have to deal with all of our kids, then you have your own you have to deal with once all of us are gone.

you're doing great with ava, i know she'd do better if i wasn't there, although she'd probably cry if i snuck away. oh well, we'll keep working at it.

I know I always say this Sarah, but your posts make me die laughing everytime without fail. I'm telling ya, you really need to take me up on my offer to ya on coming over for a little bit while you're teaching swim lessons. Ty & Elsie would have fun together too (until he whacks her in the face- we're working on his habit of hitting he's gotten into lately).

Glad I am not the only swim lesson fraud. I had to take my kids to some one else, because they would do nothing for me!! When we would go swimming as a family, they would not come near me, and only wanted Dad to play in the water with them. Probably because I made them "practice"!! But I have heard great things about you!!!
