I started a little journey 6 months ago. I got on the Crossfit website and thought I'd try the workouts. They sucked and I sucked at them.
I could brush it off as stupid...why would someone want to do that to them self?
Then I thought...why not, why not be in really, really good shape.
Crossfit says 30-45 min a day 3-5 days a week is all you need.
For 12 years I've worked out 10 + hours a week and i felt like i was in the same shape as i was 12 years ago.
Most people would be happy with that...they aren't getting any worse right?

Erics job was in major jeopardy! They are not getting any new jobs! So every month we've waited for him to be laid off.
We bought a VAN. ( theres no need to post pictures, its a van. I honestly think a $30,000 van and a $5,000 van look the same because i've NEVER even looked at vans admiringly)
Sorry- i've learned lots of people love vans- so if you care its a Honda Odyssey.
We're doing the loan modification on our house, we've cut out TONS of expenses. AND
I've put a ton of work into Crossfit, just in case....

I can't very well train hard core people if I'm not hard core myself. I tried doing it on my own but I totally cheated. Its really hard to make yourself workout to almost the point of throwing up.
I started my FREE morning workouts and got a bunch of cool people to come and it got me in better shape. Then I called a local Crossfit gym(
http://www.crossfitltf.com/) and got training from some rocking firefighters.
3 months later....finally attended my Level 1 Crossfit Cert, in Vegas. (passed if you were wondering)
I registered months ago, it was the first one open!
(pull-ups- my hands started bleeding and they said COOL.)

I have a lot of certifications and I still learned a lot at this one. . Gymnastics moves are the basis of most movements....think Yoga. Its all related really well to yoga and has made me a much better teacher.
I love olympic weightlifting. Its great. Bodybuilders don't have the flexibility to pull it off, which makes it even more impressive.
Here I am doing Thrusters. It's a front squat to push press.

DO you see these guys!? RIPPED. The thing is...you can't sell Crossfit. Let me try...
Its like the hardest workout you'll ever do. It combines functional movement at high intensity and its always different.
Some people end up in the hospital because their muscles can't handle the workload (these guys usually have EGOS).
You'll be a little scared every time you come to the gym. There is nothing fancy about the gym-it actually looks like your garage. You'll pay $150 a month to learn complex movemnets most trainers are scared to teach (think "snatch" and "clean and jerk") BUT- If your diet is on track you will get results very quickly. ( I eat so much fat, no gluten. its a very rewarding, fullfilling diet)
The trainers say...once you start- its like crack, you can't get enough.
treadmill, elliptical, step classes- i laugh at them. such a waste of time. just like i was...do the same thing everyday, try to get skinny.
skinny....you will end up week and in a nursing home. eating disorders...same deal. not able to push yourself out of a chair, reach things out of a cabinet or buy your dogfood and carry it up the stairs.
work on performance and you will be fast, strong, agile, flexible and be able to kick @$$ when your 80.
oh... the crossfit people, are hardcore....tend to have some tattoos, swear a bit. Heck- I've said the D word a few times b/c of the shear torture I'm putting myself through.
think 100 BURPEES- you'd start questioning your sanity too.
when your done....suddenly that 20 min wasn't so bad. and you want to do it again the next day .
ARE YOU SOLD? ha. The creator said his worst nightmare would be Oprah doing Crossfit. They don't want it mainstream.
So I've been working HARD because I don't want to end up on the street. Not because I want to be skinnier. I would actually do much better (performance wise) if I was working out less.
Its paid off though.... I've doubled my classes at Mt. Side. I got a job as a trainer with decent pay at Crossfit(commercial gym trainers are a rip off if you ever wondered), the synchro team will be a Crossfit kids affiliate and I'm running bootcamps all over.
Try not to be annoyed- I HAVE to work. For some reason people don't get that and they say I'm obsessed. If I was a waitress and worked a lot it would somehow be different.
Because its exercise, people give me a hard time.
I'm never judging anyone. My favorite clients are the ones that have 100+ pounds to lose!
I do FREE classes b/c I want to help everyone. Its very rewarding to see people kick butt. My friend Nicole has surpassed me in many ways and I'm proud of her...not jealous. really. i am.
girls, its ok to be proud of other people and not compare yourself. be the best you can be.
I'm posting all the classes I'm doing on my swimming blog. www.swimmingmom888.blogspot.com
yes, signing up for these classes will help ME out. AND you. If you needed 2 reasons=D
